Another fall season has arrived in Tahoe, and this year we’re embracing it with open arms. The trees are changing colors, we’ve started to unpack our winter wardrobe, and the exciting holiday fever is increasing with each passing moment. As the fall season creeps in, the time to carve pumpkins and decorate for Halloween is certainly upon us.
A favorite place locals enjoy visiting every fall is Apple Hill. Located between South Lake Tahoe and Placerville, Apple Hill is a great place to take your family and friends to pick out the perfect pumpkin. You can also expect a full day’s worth of activities to do, many sites to see, and quality homegrown goods to buy. With our excitement to visit this season higher than ever, we have put together a guide on some of our favorite things to do when visiting Apple Hill.
In 1951, a man named Floyd Bolster took his dream of a farm life to Camino, CA and bought a 10 acre ranch that contained many apple trees. 6 years later, Bolster passed away and his son Gene quit his job in Southern California to come to the ranch and complete his father’s dream. In 1964, along with members of his local community, Gene Bolster and neighboring farmers united to form the Apple Hill Growers. It has been over 50 years and Apple Hill continues to attract people from all over the world.
Apple Hill is a great place to visit if you are looking to pick out a pumpkin for the upcoming Halloween holiday. There is a large pumpkin patch that has pumpkins of all different shapes and sizes to choose from, which makes for a fun day to bring your children and let them wander until they can find the perfect pumpkin! And when the festive pumpkin season comes to an end, you can return for a visit to Apple Hill to pick out the perfect Christmas tree.
